貴州從江義教 Guizhou Congjiang Voluntary Teaching(2019-06)
簡介 Intro
曹光彪書院院長劉潤東博士率領義教團於2019年6月2至9日到貴州從江縣貫洞鎮幹團小學義教三天,成效突出。為更好準備此行,學生於春節過後隨即開始準備教案,包括英語、科學、音樂,也進行試教,並以此鞏固和建立團隊。
由於英語學習為當前最重要的任務,義教團特別給所有班增加了英語課,從ABC起教。義教團亦把英語和紀律結合,把品德模範培養融入英語活動教學。除了教英文字母,第一天中午,義教團安排所有學生,抽取一個英文名字,教他們讀和寫。小朋友每人有一個不同的英文名,都感到非常新鮮,很快就記住自己名字,對英語學習也沒有反感。
幹團小學校長老師親身看到孩子們高漲的學習情緒,都非常欣賞義教團的活動教學方法。他們主要以傳統的課本教學方式,很少用到觸屏大熒幕。他們希望以後多有機會交流,包括老師培訓,讓老師也吸收新的教學方法。
Led by Dr. Lau Yun Tung, college master of CKPC, CKPC Service Learning Team accomplished a second service learning visit to Gan Tuan Primary School in Guandong, Congjiang County, Guizhou from 2 to 9 June 2019. To ensure a fruitful outcome, CKPC students started lesson planning soon after Chinese New Year. They have prepared English, Music and Science lessons.
From the last teaching experience, the team saw a high demand in English learning. This time, they incorporated moral lessons with English activity. Starting from English alphabets, the team let the students pick an English name and teach them how to read and write on the first day. Each student had a different English name and it was a novel experience for them.
The principal and teachers were deeply appreciated by the interactive teaching method after witnessing the students’ enthusiastic emotions. The teachers there mainly used the traditional teaching method through textbooks and rarely used the touch screen or other high tech devices. They hope to have more opportunities for idea exchange in the future, including teacher training, for better teaching outcome for the students.
1. 英語課 English Lesson
幹團小學除了六年級有一星期一節英語課,其餘班都沒有英語課。去年義教時,我們發現小朋友都有興趣學英語。這次義教,我們給所有班增加了英語課,從ABC起教。特別是,我們把英語和紀律一起教,把品德模範培養融入英語活動教學。除了教英文字母,第一天中午,義教團安排所有學生,抽取一個英文名字,教他們讀和寫。小朋友每人有一個不同的英文名,都感到非常新鮮,很快就記住自己名字,對英語學習也沒有反感。五年級的學生,更給我們一個驚喜。第三天放學,他們全班一起說“See you tomorrow”。原來,這是他們自己學會講的。
Gan Tuan Primary School provides one English lesson per week for Sixth grade while there are no English classes for other grades. In the last year’s volunteer teaching, we discovered that the children are highly interested in learning English. In this volunteer teaching, we provided English lessons to all classes, started with teaching ABC. Notably, we incorporated the teaching of discipline with English, which have integrated moral nurturing with English activity teaching. Besides teaching English Alphabets, the service learning team let the students to draw an English name and teach them how to read and write tem on the first day. Each child has a different English name and they were very interested in it. Very soon, they remembered their own names. They were not reluctant to learn English. The fifth grade students even gave us a surprise. On the third day after school, they said “See you tomorrow” altogether. Surprisingly, they learned the sentence by themselves.
2. 音樂堂Music Lesson
音樂堂教導了杯子舞,用拍打杯子的聲音作為拍子,讓音樂更豐富的一種流行音樂。因為學習杯子舞需要每一位學生都有一個杯子的關係,也解決了當地學生沒有杯,全校共用一個水勺的問題。此外,為了讓學生向音樂有更全面的理解,也介紹了不同的樂器和發音原理。
We taught cup song during the music lesson, which is using the sound of hitting the cup as the beat as a kind of popular music with rich texture. When learning the cup song, each student will have a cup. This has also solved the problem of sharing the same water cup within whole school. Moreover, in order to let the student have a thorough understanding of music, we introduced to them different musical instruments and the sounding principle.
3. 科學堂Science Lesson
科學堂則讓學生動手做了綠豆發芽、光折射、和萬花筒,孩子們都很喜歡。由於缺乏老師,平常他們的常識課都只講課本,很少有動手的機會。
Students tried different hands-on experiments including green bean sprouting, light refraction, and kaleidoscope. They liked these experiments very much. Due to the lack of teachers, their general studies lessons usually only cover textbooks with few hands-on opportunities.
未來的憧憬 Future
最後一天中午,義教團安排了園遊會給全校同學,作為壓軸好戲。園遊會的問答,也是他們課堂學過的內容。獎品中包括愛心卡,則是書院開放日從澳門來訪者收集來的。傳統的寫信活動,總共收到270封給哥哥姐姐的信。幹團小學校長老師親身看到孩子們高漲的學習情緒,都非常欣賞義教團的活動教學方法。幹團小學現有教師的年齡,都在40以上,他們主要以傳統的課本教學方式,很少用到觸屏大熒幕。他們希望以後多有機會交流,包括老師培訓,讓老師也吸收新的教學方法。義教團期待,在新的硬件和教學環境,繼續給幹團小學的孩子們帶來新思維,啟發他們對未來的憧憬,也讓義教團員不斷鍛煉,自我成長。
In the afternoon of the last day, the service learning team held a party for the whole school as a finale. The Q&A included what the students have learned in the lessons. The prizes include the Greeting Cards, which were collected from visitors on the Open Day of the College in Macau. In the traditional letter writing activity, the “brothers” and “sisters” of the team received a total of 270 letters.The principal and teachers of Gan Tuan Primary School were deeply appreciated by the activity teaching method of the service learning team after witnessing the children’s enthusiastic learning attitude. The teachers of Gan Tuan Primary School were aged over 40. They mainly use the traditional method of teaching by the textbook and rarely use the big touch screen. They hope to have more opportunities for exchange and communication in the future, including teacher training, so that teachers can also learn new teaching methods. The service learning team hope that with new hardware and teaching environment, they can continue to bring new ideas to the children of Gan Tuan Primary School and to inspire their vision for future. At the same time, it allows the service learning team members to practice and grow continuously.
