The primary task of college management is to ensure that students have a safe and comfortable learning and living environment. Because of the aging W21 facilities and the increasing number of residents, the college management will continue to communicate with UM’s engineering and maintenance departments to deal with various issues in a timely manner. Students can also report problems and needs through multiple channels, such as RAs, RFs, College Offices, security guards, and the online opinion collection form [Link].

In November 2023, Macau’s “Alcohol Control Law” became effective. It prohibits serving alcoholic beverages to anyone under 18. If there are students under 18 participating in a High Table Dinner, wine is not served in order to be compliant with the law [reference link].

After a survey, the college management learned that the peak period of water consumption is between 20:00 and 01:00 (see picture). During this period, the hot water pressure on many high floors in Blocks A and C of W21 was very low or even non-existent. On the other hand, the cold water pressure is low on the higher floors of Block E. The college management has forwarded the results to UM’s Engineering and Maintenance Departments. They already adjusted the water pumps and water supply system. Please contact the college office for any further issues.
經問卷調查，書院得知用水高峰期在20:00 至 01:00之間（見圖）。在此時間段，W21的A座和C座多個高樓層熱水水壓很低甚至沒有。E座高樓層則冷水壓低。書院管理人員已把調查結果轉給澳大工程和維修部門，他們已經調整熱水泵和供水系統。如果住宿學生發現仍有供水問題，請聯繫書院辦公室。
Since UM currently allows all students to enter the college for meals, in order to strengthen safety management, it is best to install a hotel-like access control system, including three elevators and five staircase access doors. However, because of resource limitations, currently only the elevators have the card tapping function. We understand that students can go up the stairs without tapping the card. But we also figure that requiring card tapping in the elevator will help prevent non-residents from going upstairs.
由於學校容許全校學生進入書院用餐，為了強化安全管理，最理想是在書院安裝類似酒店的門禁系統，包括三個電梯和五個樓梯門。因資源限制，目前只有電梯設定拍卡功能。我們明白學生不拍卡也可以走樓梯上去，但預估電梯拍卡對阻礙非本院人員上樓有一定的作用。
This is a conscious choice after balancing expense, food experience, and alternative options. For a full-service dinner, the extra service fees increase the per capita spending by 30% or so. On the other hand, our experiences showed that the vendor’s table service typically does not match that of a upscale restaurant. The food quality and quantity often times suffer. With a buffet dinner and without the extra service fees, we are able to spend more on food quality and variety.
We can also use the remaining funds to rent a backdrop, which gives great photographic experiences for students in formal attire. Additional leftover funds may also be used on other college activities, further enriching student’s overall experiences.
