CKPC’s Down Syndrome Buddy Group visited the Macau Down Syndrome Association in late March 2025 to assist in the Association’s Open Day. The event aimed to foster greater community understanding and acceptance of people with Down syndrome through a series of carefully designed activities, breaking down prejudices and building a more inclusive and harmonious community environment.
The last weekend of March 2025 marked the “3.21 Down Syndrome Buddy Community Inclusion Promotion Day” hosted by the Macau Down Syndrome Association. During the event, the association opened its doors to welcome participants from the community. To ensure the smooth running of the activities, the organizers planned a two-day program divided into five time slots, allowing participants to join at their convenience and ensuring everyone had the opportunity to participate in this celebration of inclusion. The scale of the event not only reflected the community’s attention to the cause but also highlighted a shared aspiration for diversity and integration.
Volunteers from Down Syndrome Buddy Group prepared a variety of booth activities in advance and assisted the association in fundraising. The volunteers accompanied the children with Down syndrome to the streets to promote awareness among the public. Throughout the street campaign, the children showed great enthusiasm and initiative, independently communicating with different people while the volunteers provided support when needed and offered timely encouragement.
Looking ahead, we hope the community will gain a clearer understanding of individuals with Down syndrome and offer them more care and support. CKPC’s Down Syndrome Buddy Group will continue to carry forward their passion and compassion, assisting the Macau Down Syndrome Association and other disadvantageous groups in society.
